My Breadbox Story - the Commodore 64

In those days computer magazines were full of
type-in listings. Do I hear coverdisk? coverdisks? Are
you kidding. Back in 1983 you could only dream of just plug
in a mag-disk in the floppy and load the programs. You had to
go through tons of data lines and type them in your C64
without any mistakes... BTW: In Germany we got in
1987 the first C64-coverdisks

I learn alot about my C64 the following weeks.
The first programm i type in my breadbox is called
"Laser Force". Sounds promising, eh?. It was published in a
magazine spreading over lots of pages. So I call a friend to come
over to my place to help me. Hours went by - later in the evening we
decide to meet again the next day. But when we finished after a few
more hours it won't run. We got a "out of memory error in xx". So
we had to compare the program with the listing - just to be sure
it's not our fault... I was so frustrated that I could scream
- cause it wasn't our mistake. They printed a listing
buggy as hell! Two more weeks later after hours
of debugging we finally get it to run.

Was "Laser Force" any good?
Well just turn to the next page...
