Last Update 8.03.10: Jamming Signal will be down for a while - please connect to 71.230.30.3 (Mad World BBS) instead. Thanks HOL2001 for testing! ;) Update 19.1.10: Updated my mail address ;) Update 10.3.08: Did a new C64 BBS Online video - great as setup tutorial clip for the Winvice C64 Emu + Turbo Term: http://www.alice-dsl.net/verena.schwatlo/jammingsignal.avi Update 18.9.07: Now with Linux Vice tutorial (scroll down) + forum links and of course the C64 Online BBS Video -------------------------------------- This step by step tutorial gives an example for windows users (tested with win xp pro) to connect to the Telnet BBS Jamming Signal (runs on a real C64!) of Leif Bloomquist very very oldschool like using the Winvice C64 Emu (this feels almost like the real thing!). This is as close as you can get to the old 300 baud days in the mid 80s. Believe me - I was there back in the old days! ;) http://quipzz.bplaced.net/c64dfuee.html http://home.ica.net/~leifb/bbs/index.htm -------------------------------------- 0.1 Connect as usual to the Internet (*g*). 1. Download latest version of Winvice http://www.viceteam.org/ 2. Download + Install tcpser http://quipzz.bplaced.net/tcpser300baud.zip copy cygwin1.dll in you windows/system32 dir 2.a Change to tcpser Dir and start tcpser using the following command line: tcpser -v 25232 -s 300 -p 6400 -l 4 3. Install + Start Winvice Under settings/RS232 Setting/RS232Device1: type: 127.0.0.1:25232 Under settings/cartrigdeIOSettings/RS232 UserportSetting: Enable RS232 Userport, Userport Device 1 Userport baud rate 300 (of course! ;) ) 4.Download Hanno Behrens (1) Turbo Term http://quipzz.bplaced.net/tterm.d64 4a. Attach (file/attach diskimage) tterm.d64 to winvice type: load "ttgreen",8 type: "run" Type 7 (RS232 Parameter) Set to 300 Baud Enter Terminal Mode (3) type: atdt209.151.141.59 (or atdt71.230.30.3, cause Jamming Signal will be down for a while) Now you should get a carrier from Jamming Signal BBS like in the old 300 baud days (yep *this* is the "speed" of the 80s!) :D ! Have fun! Lutz Goerke (lutzpc5@web.de) http://quipzz.bplaced.net/c64entere.html ------------------------------------- Please have a look at the following "300 Baud connect to a C64 BBS..." forum threads: http://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24078&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= http://www.forum64.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=17891 (in German language) And of course my C64 Online BBS Video: http://quipzz.bplaced.net/c64online.avi ------------------------------------- *** Update *** Additional Infos for Linux/Vice: Settings: - enable Userport RS232 Emulation on menu RS232 Settings - set Baudrate to 300 - set Userport Device to "Exec Process" Then set "Name to Exec" at bottom of the same menu to |nc localhost 25232 SAVE and RESTART your x64, before the changes will work. "nc" is the program "netcat", that sometimes is named "netc" or "netcat" or "ncat", depending on how old or geeky your Linux is. Okay, if you are firm in using Linux you may be used toguess after the next update the new name of your most basic commands anyway, haha! On most Linux I do know "nc" is not part of the "Dummy-Install". Thanks Hanno for your help + Linux infos!
